365Telugu.com online news,February 21,2023: The main cause of earthquakes is the collision of plates inside the Earth. Seven plates are constantly rotating inside the earth. When these plates collide at some point, a fault line zone is formed.

Due to this the corners of the surface are creased. Due to the cornering of the surface, the pressure increases there, causing the ground to break. Due to the breaking of these plates, the energy inside finds a way out, due to which the earth vibrates. This is considered an earthquake.

How much is considered serious..?

Earthquakes with a magnitude less than 2.0 on the Richter scale are considered minor. These do not pose much risk. More than 8,000 earthquakes of the minor category on the Richter scale are recorded around the world every day.

Similarly, earthquakes with a magnitude of 2.0 to 2.9 are classified as minor earthquakes. More than a thousand such earthquakes occur every day. These are considered normal.

Very mild earthquakes with a magnitude of 3.0 to 3.9 are recorded 49,000 times a year. These do not cause any harm.

Light category earthquakes with a magnitude of 4.0 to 4.9 on the Richter scale are recorded around 6,200 times a year worldwide. Due to these household appliances move. However, they do very little damage. Above 5.0 is considered serious. Scientists reveal that if it exceeds 6, the intensity is too high.

Earth quakes 11 times with intensity greater than 7.0. It is noteworthy that more than 100 earthquakes occurred between magnitude 6 and 6.0. The United States Geological Survey says that an average of 16 major earthquakes occur in a year. Of these, 15 earthquakes measured 7.0 on the Richter scale, and one earthquake measured 8 and above.
