The hill was named Bhadragiri after Bhadra, later the town was named Bhadrachalam (Bhadra + Achalam). Apart from the people of the two Telugu states, devotees from other states also come to witness the kalyan of Sri Seetharamaswamyvarla which is held on the day of Sri Rama Navami.
