Clarification on ongoing issue to carry outside food in multiplexes

365Telugu.com Online News, December 13, Hyderabad: 2019: Multiplex Association of India had filed a petition challenging the order passed by the Hon’ble High Court of Jammu and Kashmir whereby the Hon’ble High Court had allowed patrons to carry outside food and beverages inside multiplexes. In August 2018, the Hon’ble Supreme Court had granted a stay on the said direction. Various other public interest litigations filed before the Hon’ble Bombay High Court, Hon’ble Delhi High Court and other High Courts raising analogous issues have been transferred to the Hon’ble Supreme Court at the instance of the multiplexes and are being heard along with the aforementioned petition. Therefore, the issue of allowing patrons to carry outside food and beverages inside multiplexes is currently pending before the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India and a stay is operating in this regard. Therefore, the multiplexes can regulate the entry of outside food and beverages inside their premises. Furthermore, the Hon’ble High Court of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana at Hyderabad (as it then was) and the Hon’ble High Court of Madras had dismissed petitions raising similar issues.”
