According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, the tech giant will introduce these smart capabilities to the new iPads next year.
The iPad docking station allows users to make calls via FaceTime and gain hands-free control of smart home devices. It is similar to the Amazon Fire tablet that allows users to place devices in a charging dock to become a smart display.
Google last week announced a docking accessory for its upcoming Pixel tablet that will work like the Nest Hub Max to control smart home devices through the Home app. Apple will soon unveil the iPad Pro, which will likely come in 11-inch and 12.9-inch models with the M2 silicon chip.
According to the report, Apple is also working on an updated version of the HomePod. The HomePod next generation features an updated display, S8 chip, multi-touch functionality. The company is planning to bundle a smart speaker device with an Apple TV camera.
Apple recently signed up with Taiwan Surface Mounting Technology (SMT), which could lead to the tech giant using hybrid OLED displays in the iPad Pro by 2024. The iPad, iPad Pro display is a key element of the user experience.
